Default Excerpts in Articles
Can I have a default article (or article form) that always has the same excerpt? I don’t want to have to add the excerpt for every article. How do I set the default to include the excerpt?
Particulars:
1) All articles have same excerpt.
2) Excerpt is output from a form.
3) Form pulls in custom fields, then
4) Article appears on page with custom fields displayed.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Default Excerpts in Articles
If I understand you correctly, you could put the excerpt text in a misc form, name it for example ‘excerpt’, and call it in your article form (where you would otherwise have <txp:excerpt />) with <txp:output_form form="excerpt" />.

Thanks for helping me clarify this. I just figured it out when I looked at my forms again.
I realized that my article is calling an excerpt which is calling a form. So, I can have my article place the form that has the custom tags INSTEAD of placing an excerpt which calls a form each time. I believe I’m getting good at musical chairs.
This: form includes form
Not: form includes excerpt which includes form

You’ve lost me… but as long as you figured it out I’m happy :)

Re: Default Excerpts in Articles
Long way: In my article, in the excerpt field, I included a form which included custom fields. When I called the form to output to the page, it called the excerpt form. Plus, I had to manually enter details into the excerpt field.
Short way: page calls form that contains custom fields. Thus, I skip the excerpt field altogether.
Els, you helped me figure this out. Thanks!
