Weird problem with comments invite

My site has been working fine for at least a year and randomly a couple of days ago one of my tags is no longer working. I have my comments to display the comment invite if there are comments (followed by the number in brackets as per default) but if there are no comments to display Comments [0] (otherwise it would just display “Comments”).

Now suddenly the if_else tag isn’t linked to the comments invite. My code is thus:

<code><txp:if_comments><txp:comments_invite /><txp:else />· <img src=”/tpimgs/comment_off.gif” class=“imgComments” /> Comments [0]</txp:if_comments></code>

How do I make that link to the comments invite?
