Got to set-up page, now says my database doesn't exist

Finally figured out that I needed to install to the public_html folder under the root of my domain. BTW, if you go to the detailed install instructions and search for “public_html” you will see that “public_html” is not mentioned anywhere on the detailed install instructions page. Just a suggestion that someone may want to add that info. to the instructions page and spell that out for those of us who don’t understand.

Anyways, now I got to the initial set-up page, created my database and usernames with full permissions. But the textpattern set up is telling me that my database doesn’t exist even though I’m looking at my newly created database now! No misspellings.

Looks like I’m off to a bad start with TextPattern. Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks

Specifically it says:

Checking database connection…

Connected

Database mydatabasename_textpat doesn’t exist

Re: Got to set-up page, now says my database doesn't exist

Not everyone has a public_html folder. It’s a reasonable assumption that you understand how your particular hosting setup works. Your host would have provided you with documentation, explaining what your public root was, when you signed up.

I assure you, the Txp setup isn’t fibbing ;), though it may be misleading. Another reason you can get that error message is if your user does not have permission to access it. All I can suggest is that you make sure your user has been “added” to your database.

Thank you. That was the problem. I never added the user to the database. Now I’m rolling…thanks again.
