textpattern with windows

Hi there,

ive used txp with my mac for a while now and find it to be very easy to use and also enjoyable to use. Im now setting up a site that requires content management for a client that uses windows.

i have read the faq and searched the posts on this but im trying to find out if txp works with windows. If it does are there any major problems with it working with windows?

thanks for u’r time

I’m running TxP on WinXP on a laptop for development purposes but my live site is on a shared linux server at dreamhost.

I’d recommend doing a little tinkering first to see if you can get things working as you need them. It’s not critical for me as I am doing plugin development for my self but if it were for a client that would be a different story, especially if your client is running IIS (I have no experience of running TxP from IIS so I can’t give you any hints about that!)

I’ve had no problems running on a windows platform using an AMP package. I know that XAMPP is documented in the Textbook but I had some problems getting it to work for me so I’m using an AMP package called the Uniform Server, which worked well. The thing it is lacking is a mail server but it is possible to get MercuryMail running from the XAMPP package side-by-side with the Uniform Server components.

Re: textpattern with windows

It will run on any platform that has a server and PHP installed. I think, however, you’re asking about just being able to use it, which only requires a browser, not a specific operating system.

Re: textpattern with windows

IIS is a type of server. Specifically, a server that Textpattern doesn’t officially run on.
