TXP dev install
So I am trying to get Txp running in a subdirectory of my clients site. His current site will remain live until I complete my Txp magic and then push it up to the root directory. I’ve already uploaded the files in the appropriate directory but setup chokes when I try to connect to MySQL database:
Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Unknown MySQL server host ‘http’ (1) in textpattern/setup/index.php on line 188
Can’t connect to database
WHats the best way to approach this problem?

Re: TXP dev install
Your problem is that your host is wrong.
it should be localhost or domain.com…….not http://www.domain.com or other derivations

Re: TXP dev install
Yup..that wasindeed the problem.
I suppose my real question is…what steps will I need to take when I decide to go live. I assume that simply moving my TXP install to root directory will not suffice. I am also entertaining the idea of having multiple TXPs installed, one live and one for dev. I am sure there is a way to do this, but my searches turn up fruitless…the search function is a little weird here…lots of unrelated posts

Re: TXP dev install
- Move your files.
- Open up your config.php and correct the
txpath
. - Login and go to admin prefs, and update the site url.
- Go to advanced admin prefs and update your tmp and file paths.
All done.
