ThroughItAll.net - music/mp3 blog
I just opened my music blog, ThroughItAll.net (actual link throughitall.net/blog )
I’m using glx_gravatar,jnm_audio,ran_tags,rss_suparchive,wet_article_thumb,wet_slimpattern
I’m tagging all my posts with mp3 if i have an mp3, review if it’s a review, and then genres
I’m using a lot of custom fields for review ratings, mp3 url, album, artist, song title, and artist related links (myspace, purevolume, official site)
I’ve been editing the site a lot as I go, whenever I have new ideas, but i think it’s turned out pretty well so far.
I’m also using web standards, and the site passes xhtml 1.0 validation
let me know what you think, if you have an suggestions or feedback
thanks
p.s. i know the rss isn’t that customizable, but i am looking for ways to add custom fields into my feed
i’m also looking for a plugin that lets me have more than 10 custom fields. does anyone know of one?
and one last thing. any plugins to be able to search through custom fields.

Re: ThroughItAll.net - music/mp3 blog
A tiny thing which I tend to dislike more and more is the unavoidable invasion of “thingies” below posts (del.icio.us this, digg that, newsvine me, rollyo over there). Is there even one user of those services who is not able to add a content item to them wihthout the help of that visual clutter?
That said, your site uses contextual links in a reasonable way by referring myspace, bands’ sites and other related information. I would refrain from adding more visual dust below your posts as that obscures those useful references among it.

i know what you’re saying about the massive amounts of extra links below, which is why i didnt add a thousand, as i could have, but i thought del.icio.us might be nice, just because i love my delicious account, and i use a lot of computers that arent my own, that obviously dont have my bookmarks or extensions already there, so those little buttons are sometimes the difference between me bookmarking or not bookmarking a site. i’d love people coming back to my site of course.
do you think if i leave it to that one service, it doesnt clutter too much?

Some means of horizontal structure might help (separators, distinct background colors for article excerpts and thingies, etc)

i think i might do that. i was thinking a subtle grey background for the myspace/official links bar

a nice fun site! you lose me before i even get to the content tho — awful spot to toss some google ads in.. unless you really want those ads to be the focal point of your page (which i doubt)

well i do want people to see the ads. i’m not trying to make a profit, just pay for hosting, so it’d be nice if people would see the ads, and hopefully click a few.
