I guess I will install your GREAT MLP Pack.
Once again, I realised, that the error message will change when I’m changing the language in the preferences.
My goal is an english backend and a german frontend. Is this possible with your MLP?

yes, the MLP Pack can do that — but it will add an (un-necessary for a single language site) language marker to your URLs. Just download it and try it out on a local server to see if it meets your needs.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] sed_comment_pack

Is there a way to prevent people from spoofing the author? It seems like people could abuse this feature…

Of course people can try spoofing the author but the e-mail field should act as a password to prevent that.

The email that the authors in the installation use should not be their publicly known email addresses. Just setup an obscure, random, email address and use that for the author’s email.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] sed_comment_pack

All

version 6 (currently a beta) is on the site. This adds two new tags for tracking new comments left since your site’s visitors last dropped by your site. One of the tags provides a simple numeric count of the new comments whilst the second provides a nicely formatted digest of them.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] sed_comment_pack

Is there a way to have it not make an email link for author comment, but to still link other commenter emails? I would like to have email links but having MY comments show the email link kind of defeats any “email as password” tricks to prevent author spoofing.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] sed_comment_pack

Simply omit the <txp:comment_email /> tag from your comment display form(s).

As there is no authentication of the email addresses entered in the comments forms, anyone can enter any validly formed address. If you stop displaying them then they are all held in confidence.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] sed_comment_pack

You didn’t read my question. I specifically said I want comments to have the email link, except for mine (because that way people can’t spoof mine if they don’t know what address I’m using.)

No, the comment pack doesn’t allow selective display of email addresses for non-author comments — it was never intended to be used with comments that display email addresses of the commentors, be they authors or anyone else.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] sed_comment_pack

I was thinking it might be possible to use the <txp:sed_if_author_comment_string/> tag to add comment tags to take out the link part (you’d have to put one before and after both the opening link and closing link tags, so it would be ugly, for sure…), but I can’t see how the link is formed in the comments…I think maybe it’s not editable without hacking the program itself? Or is there a form I’m not seeing that I can edit more directly how the comment is built?

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] sed_comment_pack

Hi Steve,

I’m looking forward to using this plugin, and finally have some time to try and set things up; however, I’m running into a problem, not with your plugin but with an apparent bug in Txp that’s preventing me from yet using your plugin. There’s supposedly a fix, but….

Details are in another thread, …/include/txp_prefs.php.

EDIT: Forget that thread, bug fixed and problem solved. My quick attempts with the plugin in development are going well. Thanks for your great work, Steve, truly.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] sed_comment_pack

Ok I’m giving in and removing comment email links altogether, much to my dismay. There doesn’t seem to be a way around the whole “display everyone BUT the author’s email link” which is a shame. Anyway, I made this decision but now I can’t figure out how to implement it. There is no “txp:comment_email” anywhere in my comment form:

<txp:zem_prblock><div class="<txp:sed_get_comment_class />">
<txp:comment_anchor />
<h5><span class="comment-no"><txp:comment_permlink> #<txp:sed_comment_number/></txp:comment_permlink></span> &middot;&nbsp;<txp:comment_name /><txp:sed_if_author_comment_string string=' (Author)' /></h5>
<txp:sed_comment_time class='comment-time'/>
<txp:message />
</div></txp:zem_prblock>

…help?
