Converting all sites to TxP. How do I retain my traffic?
Well, the conversion of my smallest site went pretty well all things considered.
TextPattern has really impressed me with its ease of use (after you get used to the way it does things), the fact that the content itself and the site layout are completely divorced from one another, and the flexibility with being able to change different sections, etc.
Anyway, the few other sites I’d like to make TxP the manager for are currently all static HTML. I’ve got really good rankings for plenty of specific pages that I’d prefer to keep.
That said, how do I convert to TxP and still keep my SE ranking for the specific pages? I realize it’ll probably change a little anyway, but I’d like to prevent my stuff from falling off the face of the planet.
I was thinking 301 redirects for all of my old pages to the new path.
Any other suggestions?
