textgarden.org 3 Column Layout Questions

Hi,

I use textgarden.org template for my txp site. In this template there are left sidebar, right sidebar, and content in the middle.

In this template, the left-sidebar coded near the top of the file, followed by the right sidebar, and content are coded just before the footer.

For SEO reason, I like to move content so it will coded near the top. Is there an easy way to do it?

I’ve try to move the code only in the template, but it doesn’t give the expected result. Can someone help?

Regards,
Sjarief

Re: textgarden.org 3 Column Layout Questions

I’ve just taken a look at Textgarden.org. If you disable the stylesheet, this site makes a lot of sense and looks very Search Engine friendly. You have to imagine someone using the site who either can’t see it, or doesn’t use style sheets for some reason. They will want to have the navigation controls first and the links to the sections and categories, which allow them to find what they want quickly. You also give them the option to skip the navigation and go to content.

The Search Engines however, aren’t concerned about the most important data appearing at the top. What they want is to see correct markup. They will look for the page title as the most important thing, then H1, H2, H3, etc. So your article heading should be an H2 or H3 at least.

I know it’s not the answer you are looking for, but I reckon save yourself the hassle and stick with the layout as is.
