Clean URLs on United Domain Websites…
Hello Guys… (and Girls of course),
I have severe problems with the recent version 4.03 and united domains…
While it seems that mod_rewrite is activated … They dont really give much info in the diagnostics…
I can activate Clean URLs, but they will invariably revert only the homepage… index.php…
Every Access… which leads to a clean-URl… gets me the home page… (I have some hardcoded messy url in there and they work of course… )
I have tried almost 20 iterations of .htaccess and it fails me miserably… I am kinda desperate about this.
Can anyone help here… ?

Yeah… I know… as far as I can see… United Domains doesnt really like to update their stuff…
I have tried to turn ofdf register globals, but unfortunately, if I try that… the site completely shuts down… and I get server configuration errors.
damn…
I have written them already in order to get this issue solved, but no answer so far.
I have actually to use this hosting service, because it was ordered there without my approval… I would have sticked to 1and1… where I encountered much less problems.
Anyway… thanks a lot for your help on this issue.
Any more cool ideas… ?

This is what you need to turn reg globals off:
php_value register_globals off
Note: you can also probe your server with your htaccess file, if mod_rewrite is really working properly, with some redirect rule and two static html files, have you tried that ?

There’s probably something non-standard in the way your host populates the CGI environment variables. Try adding this to your front page template:
<txp:php>dmp($GLOBALS['pretext']);</txp:php>And see what the request_uri and similar values are when you request various pages.

It is embarassing… but I have to admit. mod_rewrite is NOT working…
I was under the impression that it does something… but unfortunately… it doesnt. It is just broken…
Well… we are moving over the site to 1and1… :-)
I am sorry, if I caused you any trouble… but mod_rewrite and Apache-Server-Issues… are still a little over my head… I am a designer… and sometimes I cant put up with all the new stuff… :-)

Textpattern is lovely… but sometimes a small b**ch to handle… :-)
Now I work on multilanguage textpattern…… :-)
