hi there
i’ve just pretty much finished off my site using textpattern, it will be dedicated to my photography. i’m currently waiting to find out if i get accepted at a higer education course at a local college in photography. if all goes well i will use the site as a place to write about how things are going and to put up my latest pictures.
anyway i have implemented the live seach and the banner rotation by drew mclellan.
any feedback, constructive critism would be appreciated as i aim to make the site as user friendly and intuitive as possible.
thanks.

raminz,
What is the slide show script that you use on your site?

Re: hi there
hi hcgtv, the flash i used is a program called “slideshowpro” i put a link to it in my about section. it cost 20$ but i feel it’s worth it as it is a fantastic little application and totally customisable.
did you like the site, or did anyone? what do you think about the photo section, could i present it a better way? how about the colours? is the black and white theme to boring? etc.
any feedback like that would be appreciated.
i actually have a little bug with the live search plugin as when you hit the back to top or skip to content links and the url changes to “http://….#top” the search engine breaks.
i’m not sure why as it doesn’t seem to be the case on similar sites that deploy it.
anyway, thanks again.

Re: hi there
I liked the site very much, I have seen slideshow pro before, but never thought of it to be used with textpattern.
And the black and white thing is beautifull, the slimplistic structure is very resting for the eye.Fonts scale nicely too.
There are two things, that you might think of in the future
1) Parts of the Site will show color or subtle color eg.: in pastels only when you hover over something.
2) There could be sections of the site, that you show color only when you leave a landing or frontpage.
All doable with CSS
The footer meta links inagery is allso impressive,
(What is your impression about the hosting comany you use, just out of curiosity?)
All doable with CSS
regards, marios

Re: hi there
Very nice design for black & white photos.
The idea of marios to put some color touch is good, but it’s clean like this too.
Just one thing : you have a tag problem to validate XHTML with your “embed” tag on your Photos page.

Re: hi there
raminz, I think your black and white theme fits your message.
One thing I would suggest is when a user clicks Read the Full Article…, to place them at the next peice of text so they can continue reading without having to scroll down.

Re: hi there
thank you all for your feedback, i much appreicate it.
the reason i didn’t reply sooner was becuase i was in the process of changing the design. i felt a colour and more simple website was needed, and it’s almost finished here:
I still need to do a little styling on my comments and re-implement the live search which will probably go at the top of the site. I also need to decide on the best way to display my pictures internally, any suggestions would be great.
marios, segpub who host my site are wonderful. there customer service is what is most impressive. very understanding helpful and above all quick responding.
fpradignac, thanks for the valid lookout. i remedied that via a flash texpattern plugin, which makes the code much cleaner and now valid. Although i’ve currently taken out the flash photo script while i decide what to do to display my pictures (the best way).
thanks for the suggestion hcgtv, what you’re suggesting would require a class or an id link?
once again any feedback is much appreicated.

I think you can do it with an id link in the form that displays the article.
