Arabic translation
Hi everybody,
I finished ~80% of the translation to arabic, but I have some problem to find translation for some words or sentences, then I need the help of arabic people who use Txp for correcting the file.

Hello all,
A new Arabic user joined the party :). I’ve known about TextPattern just few days ago from a thread on SitePoint & I’ve been very impressed with it since then. I like it’s almost endless customizability to one’s own imagination & yet it’s simplicity.
I’ll try to learn as well as contribute to the community here.

Hi guys, the current file could be useful for many people, just a quick: how to write Arabic in Arabic?.
I think we could safely add it as is and update when it’s completed, isn’t it?

It s simple to write arabic, juste install arabic language and keyboard (under windowsXP property panel) and you can switch between two keyboard easily!
There is no news about corrections or others things of lang file! no one can help?

I’ve had ISP problems through past 2 weeks, so sorry for not catching up with you.
Well, I glanced a quick look into the translation file submitted by Dragondz; it looks well translated though it needs more discussion on phrases to be as standardized as possible. Thanks Dragondz for taking time to do this excellent job. I’ll post my suggestions here on this thread or we may take the discussions further on private if you wish, just drop me a PM.
Regarding the whole Arabization of TP, first off I would like to thank the development team for their interest at supporting Arabic language, however, I think it’s far more than translating a language file, especially when it comes to RTL languages. In every open source CMS/Portal script I worked with, I have to dig into files/templates & doing lots of ‘divs’ & aligning edits to switch the system into RTL. Although this is something that is a great fun & learning experience to coders & designers, it’s probably not the case for the average user who just want to setup an easy-to-use yet powerful webiste for his blog or online shop or whatever.
The best (& only) script software I found that deals with RTL issues out of the box is vBulletin forum software. They provide a test style on their official forum for potential customers.

My guess is that what we should achieve before we proudly claim that TP supports Arabic language (or any other RTL languages).

Yes I agrer with that simsim, but I think the first step is translating the lang file, and working in admin side is another work, but i am not sure to do the job now because a new version of txp is on work with a new admin design, and i have no idea in what it will look right now!

Salam Dragon,
This is an update that I’m working on the file. While I greatly appreciate your work, I found many contextual errors that I would like to discuss with you.
For instance, you’ve translated ‘designer’ as ‘تعيين’, which is clearly wrong. It should be ‘مصمم’ as it indiactes people who’ll be given desiging privilges by TextPattern’s admin.
I’m doing line-by-line review of your file, & I’ll post a new modified version of it, then let’s together compare what we’ve done so far.
A note to TextPattern devs: I really would like to hear your comments about what I’ve said at post #8 about supporting RTL languages out of the box in TextPattern.
