file upload problem

Hi, here’s another question I haven’t been able to track down an answer to in the FAQs or anywhere else. I’m trying to make use of Textpattern’s file management, but am not currently able to use it. When I click on the “Files” tab I see the following message:

Warning: cannot write to file directory
/users/home/imaginaryboy/domains/slowlyfadingaway.com/web/public/files.
Please change file permissions to 777

How do I change file permissions? I’m definitely able to upload to that folder with FTP or dreamweaver, but textpattern isn’t letting me do anything.

Any help would be appreciated!

Re: file upload problem

Your ftp program should allow you to select the directory, and change permissions via a dialog or a menu command. If it shows checkboxes, just click them all. If your ftp program produces a log or a console, you should see something like chmod 777.

You can easily do this via the command line too, but I’m guessing you’re a gui kinda guy.

Hope this helps.

Re: file upload problem

Thanks mrdale! I am indeed a gui guy which is why I love textpattern. =)
I’ll try configuring this via ftp when I get home tonight.
