Failed update 4.0.3! How to revert to 1.0rc3 ??
The update to 4.03. from 1.0rc3 failed (Installation worked, but not the site, because of some old plugins, I guess…). Before I backup up the old textpattern folder, the htacces- and index.php-file. I did it before, so I thought setup up the old installation would work easily, but not this time. Does anyone know what to do ? I have no backup of the database, btw…
I can’t really access the textpattern with a browser, I’m getting this error messages:

Does anyone knows a safe way to Revert to the old version, it’s a clients site…
The Site works, but Nobody can’t post something right now…

Reverting the files but not the database probably won’t work.
You should fix the problem that is causing the update failure. I’d guess you haven’t updated the textpattern/index.php file (and possibly others also). You need to extract all of the files from the Textpattern .zip archive and upload them to the correct location on your server.

<strong>Edit:</strong> Zem beat me to it, but hopefully this post is still useful.
A couple things:
- Please read <a href=“http://textpattern.com/faq/37/warning-failed-to-open-stream”>this FAQ entry</a>. You might be able to fix the install without needing to downgrade.
- If that doesn’t work, Textbook has basic instructions on <a href=“http://textpattern.net/wiki/index.php?title=Downgrading_to_an_Older_%28Stable%29_Release”>Downgrading to an Older (Stable) Release</a>.
At this point, I don’t know if there are any copies of RC3 still available on the web. Hopefully, someone can prove me wrong…

First of all thank you for your quick answers…
Okay, now I’m using the 4.0.3 files again, everthing works fine (I must have screwed up in the first place, I don’t know why) except the rss link, if I click on it I get an 404…

To be clear: what address do you go to when you click on the link?
Also, did the RSS link work properly before? (Just want to be sure.)

The Link did work properly before and it was directed to the newsfeed to be handed over to a news-aggregator or to be read in a browser which able to handle rss correctly, like safari for instance.

Okay, I got it, I used an obsolete txp tag, my fault. Now it’s working. Thanks to Everbody!
