Is it possible to create a product catalog with TXP?

Hello,

I have to develop a site for a company, and they want their products displayed on the site. There are about 5 product families, and each family has its own products. Each product should be presented with a thumbnail image and a reference number, and then one should be able to click on the thumbnail and see a larger photo and some more characteristics about that item.

I have been thinking about using TXP to develop a site like that, but I’m not sure if that is possible. What do you think? I’d also like to see an example of a site like that managed with TXP.

Thanks

If you think of the families as categories, and the products as articles, you could implement it fairly easily. You may need to do something custom for listing the products (articles) in the format you wish, showing a thumbnail that links to the full product (article).

Here’s an article on this topic by 29digital: Using Textpattern to manage an e-commerce website.

Thanks for the information! Now I have somewhere to start. I still wonder if I can work with sections and subsections in TXP, to display families/subfamilies of products.

Thanks again.
