Uploaded images and files owned by Apache 'nobody'

When I upload images and files via TxP, they get assigned Apache’s ‘nobody’ owner. This means I cannot rename or overwrite the files via FTP (I get permission denied). Is there any way around this? My host suggested uploading files via FTP (not a terribly helpful suggestion) and installed a daily task to give ownership back to me (more helpful).

I’d like to be able to take ownership of uploaded files on a more ad-hoc basis. Is this even possible? Is uploading of files via PHP’s FTP going to be a possibility for TxP in future?

Many thanks

Charles
