Open files instead of downloading

I keep a bunch of PDFs and JPGs as files in TXP instead of uploading them directly to the server and provide links to them from the relevant article entries.

I would like the links to open the files in the browser instead of prompting a download. Is there any way to do this? (besides linking to the absolute URLs of the actual files)

Re: Open files instead of downloading

All file-downloads from textpattern are served with “Content-Type: application/octet-stream” for which the Browser prompts a download.

If you prefer different behaviour, you need a plugin.

That sure explains it. A lil tinkering should able to do the trick. Thanks!

Re: Open files instead of downloading

This would be a great plugin! It doesn’t make sense for PDF’s to be downloaded when so many browsers can read them in the browser.
