[plugin] [ORPHAN] mcb_flash_satay (inserting Flash into articles)

I just came across the mcb_flash_satay plugin. Seems as if it was not published anywhere. No idea if it works and how it works. Just wanted to let you know it exists.

Short description:
Many people use the Flash Satay method developed by Drew McLellan for embedding Flash movies into web pages without violating web standards. This plugin helps automate the process of embedding Flash in TXP pages using the satay method.

I’d rather have a UFO plugin instead. Bobby van der Sluis remarks:

Unfortunately Drew McLellan’s Flash Satay and Hixie’s Embedding flash without embed appear to have cross-browser limitations (streaming issues and/or issues using various parameters), so for now we are stuck with the embed element for all browsers that use the Netscape plug-in API.

There’s also Kimili Flash Embed which uses the FlashObject method of embedding

Er,

Well, since Alexandra already found it, I guess I should announce my plugin, txp:mcb_flash_satay. It implements the well-known Flash Satay method for inserting flash movies into web pages. Here are some of its potentially useful features. You can:

1. upload your flash movies via the ‘files’ tab as you would any other file
2. configure it to use a different upload folder if you choose
3. set default height and width for the flash movies, or specify it in the tag
4. provide alternative content (for non-flash-using browsers) within the body of the tag
5. specify a class attribute for the < div > that will surround the movie in your page so you can specify CSS elsewhere

In addition there is a short video tutorial which shows how to install, configure, and use the tag.

And in case you use Camtasia Studio to produce screencasts, there is another plugin, txp:mcb_camtasia_satay that is similar but can be used with the output from Camtasia. There is no screencast on how to use this one yet.
