Increasing content enrty problems

Having gone live an hour or so ago – I am experiencing difficulties putting content into the system.

1. Unable to upload any further images- ‘problem with file upload’.

2. Trying to create new link categories – this seems to fail and dump me to a textpattern page with a jump list and nothing else.

3. Same as 2. but happens when trying to create new article category.

4. This is also preventing me from creating any more static pages.

Very frustrating!

Help!

Cheers!

Mike

Re: Increasing content enrty problems

Did you copy your mysql database from one server to another at some point? That might be related – it looks like you have some character set issues.

Re: Increasing content enrty problems

Hi Zem,

Yes, I moved from a local machine to a remote hosted machine.

How do I cure this problem?

Textpattern refuses to allow me to add anything – content, categories, images etc.

Cheers!

Re: Increasing content enrty problems

Hi Zem,

Another problem – my site is now incredibly slow – taking way too much time to load even the simplest of pages.

Re: Increasing content enrty problems

How do I cure this problem?

If you moved from MySQL 4.0 or earlier to 4.1, it’s difficult. There’s some information here. It’s not clear whether that’s the cause or not. It does sound like the problem is related to your database, however.

It might be worthwhile checking your tables with phpMyAdmin if you have it – there are some pointers here.

If you still have your original database on the local machine, try installing a fresh Textpattern database on the hosted machine, and copy only the data from the local one (mysqldump -nt ... will do this, or you could simply edit the SQL dump and remove the table creation lines)

Another problem – my site is now incredibly slow – taking way too much time to load even the simplest of pages.

That also hints at database problems, but there could be other causes. See here.
