You cannot use article_custom with page-navigation.

That was the whole point of creating article_custom in the first place: It is independent of the url (and hence doesn’t use navigational parameters).

Currently there is no article(_xxx) tag that is sensitive to only some parameters. It’s either all or nothing. Given that there is apparently demand, we’ll think of a potential solution in the future.
