tangledhelix.com
tangledhelix.com is my personal site, mostly consisting of photos and illustrations. Except for the /clip/ directory (using Wordpress), Textpattern handles everything.
I’m an old Unix gearhead and I had previously managed everything on my site with a text editor, some HTML and (eventually) some custom PHP. Life is so much simpler with Textpattern. I looked at a number of other packages but none were really flexible enough for me. So far I haven’t found anything I wanted to do that Textpattern wasn’t able to deal with (or that I couldn’t find, or easily write, a plugin for).
My only complaint so far is that the RSS support isn’t more customizable. I wanted to use Textpattern for the /clip/ directory as well as the rest of the site, and needed an RSS feed for /clip/ but I wasn’t willing to have those entries pollute the ‘main’ feed. I just tossed together a Wordpress install and called it a day. In a way, this is better, because the clip entries don’t pollute my Textpattern article list, even in the admin view.
Anyway, I love Textpattern, and it’s only gotten better since I started to use it. Thanks to everyone who works on it! It’s a quality product and it shows.
