a more advanced portfolio page
I am wanting to build a portfolio site and would like to include a list of fields for each record. In other words, when the visitor clicks on “Website A” they will view a list of items such as: “Client”, “Timeframe”, “Challenge”, “Solution”, “Job Roles”, etc…. along with a few thumbnail images. So I’d like a form for each portfolio project to input each field.
This would probably be like adding several fields (like custom 1 & custom 2) to the “Advanced Options” option in the write article page. Is there a plugin out there that does this?
thanks-
paul

Dude,
You need to read more :)
All that you need is built into TXP, or if you mean something different, restate your question with more specifics or an example

Re: a more advanced portfolio page
Dude-
You need to cut me some slack. :)
Thanks for the link. Forgive me for not knowing this, but I’m not quite sure how to implement the “custom field” that you outlined here. The page says, “They [Custom fields] are defined in the “Advanced preferences” tab, under the “Custom” heading.” Where is this? I’ve looked all over Textpattern and I don’t see an “Advanced preferences” tab. I’m using Textpattern version: 1.0rc3. Is it only available in newer versions?
Thanks again for this Matthew. It is exactly what I was looking for.

Re: a more advanced portfolio page
Luthier, you need to upgrade to version 4.0.2 (TXP skipped from the release candidates to version 4). Lots of improvements over the version you are running. 4.0.3 should be out in a week or so.

Re: a more advanced portfolio page
Thanks folks, I was unaware 4.0.3 had so many new features…
I am trying to add content to those custom fields, but I really need a field (really a text area) that is larger and may be formatted…like having content that is part of an article, but on it’s own page. Then it could be linked to it’s own page from the main article page.
Is there a plugin that does this?

Not as far as I know, no. Custom fields are varchar(), that’s 255 bytes. If you want more, you’ll need some kind of article trick (using several articles to build one page), or some PHP/plugin in there.

There are people who use the excerpts field to do what you are looking for.

Re: a more advanced portfolio page
I will need the excerpt IN ADDITION to both body fields.
What I need is this:
-Excerpt (showing the preview of the content)
-Body (showing the “script” of the show)
-Body2 (showing scripture refs on separate pg)
I have already looked into splitting the article into multiple pages as in etz_pg and the scripts will be so long as to require that, but in addition to that, I need an additional separate page for scripture refs.
I’ve searched quite a bit in the plugins but can’t seem to find anything.
