ob_start ob_gzhandler in Page TXP does not work in IE 6.0 Win

Using of gzip compression is in my requiremets

Situation

When i am using this function on TXP Page template IE just not render the results, but in Opera, FF, Konqueror everything work fine.

I am not programmer at all, so please – give me some advice about

1) Is ob_start (ob_gzhandler) is wrong method to compress content at all?
2) Is it wrong method when working with MySQL?

Becouse in modern browser its method work perfect

3) Is it completely fault of IE
4) Can i fake IE but stil serving gzipped content to normal browsers?

Any thinks are welcome, and, please, sorry for my bad English
