Souvey.com
My name is Christopher Souvey and this is my personal/business website
Souvey.com
It is my first website using textpattern..
Its not complete yet, but the main page, the photo gallery, and the forum are…
The design was by Gustaf (Cruzilla Design), but the css & code was written by me
What do you think?

Re: Souvey.com
souvey -
my first impression is that there is too much going on the front page. from a user coming to your site for the first time, there is a lot to process.
i know you said this is your personal/business website. is the blog portion of the site the personal part? and the rest of the site business?
is this site for your use and current clients only? if it’s for potential new clients… i would make the about statement stand out… make it the focal point of who you are and what you do (like Dan Cederholm does on Simplebits.com). Just a quick note and give the user the option to “learn more”….
then focus on your annoucements… but it would be helpful to clearly label all sections.
then lower on the totem pole… recent posts, etc… (the services will be covered under the services link and the about statement link…)
also, i guess since you are a windows server management guy, you would use the win xp arrows. my personal preference would be to remove it… b/c it looks to xp-ish… on the other hand if you are catering to to windows users… you might want that.
From the design perspective, a little drab…
don’t get me wrong, i’m a grey fan. but it’s just a little too overcast for my taste.
OVERALL… you have a lot of workable pieces… i would personally just re-organize some content and clean it up… not throwing too much content their way at once. give your user the option to click on something… don’t force feed it to them. if they want the info… they will get it.
I don’t know if that will help or not. Since I really don’t know your core focus of this site, I don’t know if my feedback will be vaild or not.
Anyway, just my opinion. I hope it helps some.
