Warning: SAFE MODE Restriction in effect.
Hello everyone!
FIRST POST! Unfortunate that it has to be a request for help. =(
Anyhow, I am trying to setup a textpattern page for my local Church group and don’t seem to be having too much trouble. That is, until I try and upload pictures. As soon as I try and upload pictures I get the following error at the top of my page
**Warning: SAFE MODE Restriction in effect. The script whose uid is 734 is not allowed to access /tmp/txp_WaFiHM owned by uid 48 in /home/virtual/site76/fst/var/www/html/textpattern/lib/txplib_misc.php on line 945
Warning: getimagesize: Unable to open ‘’ for reading. in /home/virtual/site76/fst/var/www/html/textpattern/include/txp_image.php on line 191**
So, I have tried to change CHMOD settings, but from other research it seems to be something that has to do with how my host is running some “safe mode” to prevent being hacked. However, I don’t know how to circumvent this problem. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem? I would apprecaite it SOOOO much! BTW —I cant get stupid Textile things to work. Otherwise, I would have bolded the above error.

Re: Warning: SAFE MODE Restriction in effect.
Does your diagnostics page give a warning about the temp directory? You probably need to change it to something within the safe mode restricted folder(s) – admin > preferences > advanced, “Temp folder”. You can use the ‘tmp’ folder inside the textpattern directory if you make it writable.

Did you try changing the temp folder?

Re: Warning: SAFE MODE Restriction in effect.
I tried changing the folder to /tmpfold (still in the same directory that /tmp was in), changed permissions to 777, but i got the error that it could not write to the folder, so I changed it back.
I have emailed my host about the safemode issue, hopefully I can get some answers there.

Re: Warning: SAFE MODE Restriction in effect.
You have to enter a full (filesystem) path for the temp-directory.
You should have entered:
/home/virtual/site76/fst/var/www/html/textpattern/tmp (for example)

Are you on MediaTemple if you are try using the powermode. It will kill any alternate domains you have running but solves a slew of problems especially down the road.
