Make plugins fully editable from within textpattern.
I would like to suggest the following feature:
Under admin->plugins->edit I would like all features of the plug-in to be editable, not only the code. In that way one could update the documentation, version-number and everything directly from the admin interface.
Then add an export option so that you could easily distribute the changes the same way plugins are distributed today.
Why would this be a good idea?
- It would make it easier to make private modification of plugins as one could document the changes and perhaps even change the name of the plug-in. One could also make export the changes for back-up so they don’t get lost if one by mistake would update the plug-in.
- If it is easy to make and maintain private changes, then more people would do it, and that will in the end lead to more active developers.
- It would make more sense if an edit button really could edit the whole plug-in and not just the code.
I would be very happy to supply a patch, but I am still to green for such great deeds. So meanwhile I thought that I should at least share the idea.
