category listing not working
Hi, I’ve been setting up a new textpattern site for the first time and I have everthing working fine, but I can’t seem to figure out why when I go to /category/<name> nothing shows up. There are articles in those categories, but nothing is rendered to the page. Can anyone help me out?
Here is the site:
http://sunkencity.org
Here is an example:
http://sunkencity.org/category/sunkencity/ – It shows just one article…
http://sunkencity.org/category/FlickrBackup/ – shows nothing even though there is one article in Flickr Backup
Under “Organize” in my admin page, there are 4 articles next to the sunkencity category.
Let me know where I should start looking. Thanks!
Andrew

Are the sections in which those articles are, set to appear on the front-page?

Only the sunkencity one is. Flickr Backup is not.

The category-links that are generated by the textpattern-tags always point to the homepage. If you articles are set to not appear on the front-page – they won’t show. Think of the category as a filter for the “normal” front-page.

Ah, that would explain it then. So is there something else that will list all the articles that were written with a specific category? I was expecting to see a list with just the titles of the articles when I clicked on those links…Guess I was wrong.

I just found this thread regarding my experience with categories. Why is that? Just curious as I have noticed that on my default install of textpattern.
For example, I created a section called ‘Radio’ and write an article under it plus selected ‘hope for the future’ category – it will not shown in this category unless I enabled ‘frontpage’ for ‘Radio section.
It’s like defeating the use for category? It should have been called ‘Newflash’ or ‘Front page category’ something like that.

Have a look at this code to make a category listing use the same page/template/section that you are currently in.
