[request] curse words filter
is there a plugin that will replace words with other words? say if someone typed the word ‘douchebag’ in a comment that it could be replaced by ‘dunderhead’ or something else? i’ve searched through the forums and haven’t found anything of that ilk.

Ah, a bad language filter for comments? Yes, I don’t believe one exists.

I take it you are looking for some kind of “bad language” filter? I’m not aware that anything has been produced for that. YET!

Is this a new version of the “negative question” problem I’ve been trying to sort out?

i don’t plan on using it for filtering bad language, but as a means to prevent Google ads for things that i don’t believe in. (imagine a vegan site with a Google ad for beef, or a catholic site with a Google ad for condoms) but you are right – it would be a bad language filter too, which might be useful for a site geared towards children.
i haven’t a clue with regards to programming, otherwise i’d take a hack at it myself.

If you hang around long enough somebody will do it. :)
