visitor registration

Hello,

I currently offer a file download from my site but I want it to be accessible only to visitors who register first so I will be able to monitor who’s downloading what. Is there a plugin available for that? All the plugins I can find seem to offer registration for TXP access only.

thanks in advance.

Re: visitor registration

Well, I may be able to work on something along those lines; I have TypeKey and OpenID integration working now in Textpattern. Code could be added to allow a visitor to log in with a TypeKey account or OpenID identity, then log any downloads they make (and disallow downloads by users who are not logged in). What kind of accounting would be needed? Just totals per file, or a more exact record, along the lines of “visitor x downloaded file y at time t”?

Re: visitor registration

It would be great if one is able to see that visitor x downloaded file y at time t!

Re: visitor registration

Marteen, You can combine mem_self_register and ign_password_protect to achieve what you want. Both authors have nice documented plugins. So it wont be that hard. But It does require some playing around to fully understand the setup. I am using the two plugins for a students portal . Good luck!
