Feedback to: Help us test the release candidate for the upcoming 4.0.7

See weblog post: http://textpattern.com/weblog/328/testing-upcoming-407-rc1

The final, official 4.0.7 release is scheduled for next week, unless unexpected problems or errors arise.
We’re looking for people who like to help us make sure that we didn’t miss any regressions or introduce new bugs. We would like to get feedback on clean installations and updates from older versions.

Make sure that if you use this release candidate, you also update to the final 4.0.7 version when it is released.

Download Textpattern CMS here

Note:

  • The included HISTORY.txt file already lists most of the important changes since 4.0.6. If we missed something, let us know.
  • The download advertises itself as 4.0.6 (r29xx) in diagnostics, because we haven’t yet bumped the version number.

Re: Feedback to: Help us test the release candidate for the upcoming 4.0.7

The only thing I’ve noticed is that the new parser is stricter. For example in TXP 4.0.6 I had the following typo:

</txp:else />

Which didn’t break anything, so it went unnoticed, but TXP 4.0.7’s new parser will have issues with this. It took me a while to figure out what caused the breakage, so as a heads up if your site isn’t displaying everything, do a once over on your tags.

Should the upgrade instructions on textpattern.com be updated to include the new ‘rpc’ directory?

The download advertises itself as 4.0.6 (r30xx)

Is it my imagination or is it advertising itself as 4.0.6 (r2997)?

I’ve installed it without errors and haven’t noticed any problems using it, no problems with any of my plugins either.

Providing a list of plugins that DO cause problems may be more interesting.
