[wiki] The Tag Reference

The Tag reference, the most valuable pages on Textbook, where we all go to when building our sites.

Wouldn’t it be great to have access to the tag reference while in the presentation tabs of the Textpattern admin? A drop down list of tags, click on one and a popup help window showing associated help from the reference.

Oh, and how about having write access to the tag reference from this popup window, where we could add examples from our own code. A simple copy/paste when we’ve figured out the tag and want to pass on our knowledge to the next person.

Worries of spam aside, look no further than the PHP Function Reference for a working example.

Re: [wiki] The Tag Reference

Yes it is Bert and I thought a drop down list was an excellent idea, but then I thought it would be a heck of a long drop down. My usual solution in an admin theme is to add a link to the tag reference in the footer or maybe right above the header, usually opening a new browser tab so you can have both open at the same time.

I’m betting you can’t columnize a drop down?

I’ll raise you a toggle the txp:tag subcategories, ala Tag Builder.

Re: [wiki] The Tag Reference

Ha haa! Now whenever anyone mentions a drop down my mind always thinks “select” which isn’t what we are talking about here at all is it? Just forget I bothered to wake up yesterday cuz I’m not too sure that I did. ;)

Re: [wiki] The Tag Reference

A while ago I came across Instacss (a JQapi lookalike for css) but only recently discovered that it had become dochub, a full blown reference site for html, css, jquery, dom and php.

Seeing as the source code is available on github (along with instructions for local installation), I wonder how hard it would be to extend to integrate the txp tag reference?

Re: [wiki] The Tag Reference

Hi Jakob,

Please let me know if ever this gets attempted. I am desperately looking for a IDE or tag reference I can run offline. It’s really putting me off completing any projects having to connect via my broadband dongle to lookup any required tag attributes.

Really am surprised that nothing exists besides textmate for the mac

Mike

Jakob,

Thanks for reminding me I need to get my site relaunched.

But first, the magazine. :)
