Accessing the (windows) filesystem with JavaScript
It seems that in order to convert some files I received from Rick Siletti to XML for use with the reference panel in Dreamweaver JavaScript would be handy to use.
However, the problem I forsee I’ll run into is accessing the filesystem as browsers don’t allow this for obvious security reasons. Could I use php to handle the files and e.g. read a file and pass that data onto a string in javascript ?
Or are there (open source/freeware) code editors with built javascript interpreters that allow access to the filesystem? Anyhow, If anybody knows of a rather uncomplicated solution, I’d be grateful to hear.
edit: tried to make some sentences a little easier to read
