Top Plugins

Just wondering what your must have, “can’t live without” plugins are. Mine are:

  • Mary’s image popper
  • Zem’s Contact and
  • Marshall’s Albumpattern.

Re: Top Plugins

I do not use all of the following, but consider all very valuable

and many more…

Would be great if some more people could add their most liked plugins :) would be a great resource for newbies.

Re: Top Plugins

5 at random

  • mary’s upm_img_popper & upm_file_packets – for associating images & files with articles, plus making it much easier to insert these into articles
  • zem_contact
  • chs_if_urlvar – handy
  • glx_admin_image_resize – would like to see more of this functionality in the core, good for contributors to upload and resize pics
  • jnm_recent_comments_unique – more elegant recent comments/commenters display

Re: Top Plugins

  1. upm_img_popper & upm_file_packets – both very useful
  2. zem_contact – also using the newer version zem_contact_reborn, both are buggy
  3. ako_nav – really useful and very simple
  4. cbs_category_list – very good
  5. vdh_flickr – very, very good plugin

Less used, but useful:

  1. glx_admin_image – not quite got used to this one, but it is good to have something that can edit images
  2. aba_image_import – latest version needs a little work but useful if you have a lot of images to import
  3. wet_slimpattern – simple plugin to include SlimStat a very, very good stats package
  4. rss_live_search – use this for one client’s site. Nice
  5. ob1_googlenav – useful google style next/previous page links

I prefer to use at few plugin as possible, its hard to keep track of them all and less work. But the above are quite essential for me.

Re: Top Plugins

I’m using quite a lot of plugins, but these are the ones I am not likely going to dump (unless they’ll stop working or I find a native TXP way to do it):

This is one that never got further developed, but is quite interesting:

Re: Top Plugins

@everybody

Thanks so much for the replies. This list is starting to show some patterns. I will compile a list of the favs soon. FYI, Alexandra has bumped this topic over on the Textpatter forum and there are a few more responses there for any of you following this thread.

Re: Top Plugins

  • mic_technorati_cosmos
  • glx_if

others I’ve seemed to have divorced myself from over time (and as txp itself matures)

Re: Top Plugins

I agree with many of the above, but these, not mentioned yet, are essential for me:
  1. bas_img_selector
  2. hak_tinyMCE
  3. upm_category_image
  4. rss_article_edit
  5. hak_article_image
  6. glx_if (still use it for if frontpage, etc.)

Re: Top Plugins

This is a bit difficult because certain plug-ins I was using last year have now been superceeded by the base code so I no longer use them however if forced to stick to what was good last year:-

zem_contact (replaced by zem_contact_reborn)
ob1_if_section (no longer used)
glx_if (no longer used)
ob1_title (no longer used)
ob1_googlenav
mem_glinklist
glx_gravatar (original version)
sdr_guestbook
ajw_comment_alt
ajw_comments_feed
