but i did not use an article or body tag on the error page ?!?
I sometimes destructively reverse engineer my own work and the only help is this forum.

the rest is pretty much handcoded plus a few output_form tags which only contain navigation and so on …

Tag trace please (see the troubleshooting forum, one of the sticky topics at the top)

the trace doesn’t output anything on the page the error occurred on.

Yes, I seem to recall that tag traces don’t happen on error pages?
