Re: upm_file_packets

Hi mary and thanks for great plugin.

Did just what was on my files utility wish list. I am not sure should I post this on this post or on feature request but here it goes for nothing:
txp:files_description on pop-up menu. I am having something like 100 files and can´t really manage them well as they are badly named. Maybe this can be option under extension. Just my five cents.

Best regards, Topi

Re: upm_file_packets

Sure thing. I just recently added this kind of thing to the img_popper plugin, so this shouldn’t be a problem.

Re: upm_file_packets

feature request:

  1. sort order – I think at the moment it lists multiple files alphabetically? an option to sort according to the order specified in the custom field (33,37,31) would be great … or maybe I’m missing something
  2. on the files tab, how about a checkbox next to each file (default: ticked) that determines whether the file is publicly available? reason being: sometimes you want to keep notice of ‘historical’ files – and display them (with a txp-inserted class perhaps) maybe crossed out… I’m thinking for a mp3 blog where I’d like to remove files after a certain time but would like the relevant articles to show what files were provided… I think it would make sense for other applications too… (and if you want to delete the damn thing, just hit the ‘x’!)

No.2 may be out of plugin scope so will cross post on ‘feature request’ forum

Re: upm_file_packets

  1. The tag works identical to the built-in, so it sorts by filename alphabetically by default, and you can also order by download count (asc or desc) or “random”. I agree custom, sort order should be possible. So it shall be written, so it shall be done. ;)
  2. While it could be done with a plugin, it would mean either altering the textpattern table, or creating a new one. Neither of which I’d choose to do if I can avoid it. It’d be a lot cleaner – and make more sense – to have that kind of feature built-in to Textpattern.

Re: upm_file_packets

good stuff mary, love your work – and on point 2, when I get a chance later, I’ll mock up some screenshots and follow the prescribed dean-path for core feature requests

Re: upm_file_packets

I’v got a problem upgrading to txp 4.0.1 with this plugin that did just not work anymore… I can’t tell more about it now as I had to restore my site under txp 4.0 quickly… ;-)

But I see I’m running v.0.1.1 of ump_file_packet and the version is v.0.2 could that be the cause of my problems ?

Is anyone running txp 4.0.1 with ump_file_packet ?
I’ll upgrade ump_file_packet tomorow then try again with txp 4.0.1 but feedbacks are welcomed

Thanks

Re: upm_file_packets

Very much so. Version updates include bug fixes.

v.0.2.1

Works for me just fine in the latest stable 4.0.1.

Re: upm_file_packets

Well I’m so disapointed… it doesn’t work.
My site just can’t work without this fantastic plugin since all is built arround it.
So I can’t do any upgrade if I don’t find a solution to that issue.

I took time to be as clear as possible, Mary :

Here is what happens when upgrading to txp 4.0.1 (rev. 888)
It always links to the file ID “0” !

Here is what happens when restoring to txp 4.0 (rev. 789)
The file IDs are correct so all works fine…

Here is the tag I’m using to call the files in the article form :
<code><txp:upm_article_file_list /></code>

Here is the “files” form :
<code> <p> <img src=”../design-images/bt_icdl.gif” /> <txp:file_download_link>Télécharger</txp:file_download_link> [<txp:file_download_size format=“auto” decimals=“0” />] <br /> Téléchargé <txp:file_download_downloads /> fois <br /> </p>
</code>

The custom field setting is OK in extensions tab > upm_file_packets Préférences

The installed version of the plugin upm_file_packets (in both cases) is 0.2.1

I tried to change the name of the custom field
I tried with another custom field
I tried with <txp:upm_file_packets_article_custom /> instead of <txp:article_custom />
But it never works

I don’t know what to try now…

What I’m I doing wrong ?

v.0.2.1
Works for me just fine in the latest stable 4.0.1.

That makes me think that it is finally maybe not a pluginn issue but an update issue (?) …
I’ll try to restore the site from scatch this week-end…

Re: upm_file_packets

That’s a known 4.0.1 bug. Fix.
