I have finally come around to updating this. Sorry for the major delay… :/

I have not added any new features, only updated it to RC3 (based on rev317) and streamlined the code. More details can be found on my website.

I think that aristocles has the right of it. If I could code something like this:

<txp:vg_related_articles limit=“10” break=“li” wraptag=“ul” section=“foo” />
</code>
and have only related articles in the section “foo” returned. That would change this plugin from something cool to a must have!

As it is, the original article shows up at the top of the list of related articles (at least for me). While I think this is an incredibly useful plug-in, making it so that the original article does not show up as being related to itself would be an improvement.

Actually, it was built not to show the original article. However, I will have to make another update I suppose… So little time so much to do.

I will also be looking into allowing you to specify what sections to look in, as suggested by aboswell.

say vincent – I love the plugin, it works great except for the fact that it just returns a list of articles as they were posted, in order, and not by their keywords. This plugin is exactly what I want, but I find it hard to believe that articles 819-824+826+827 are the best related to article 825 ;) I’m running textpattern from svn, and am for the most part right up there with development releases, so maybe there’s something beyond rc3 that broke the plugin – but just a heads up.

Yeah, that’s how the plugin works… it just looks for any match on any keyword. The results are not ranked by relevance.

I’m going to experiment with modifying it so that it does rank by relevance but it will require a database change in addition to modifying the plugin. I’ll post here if the end result is good.

I was looking to do the same thing for my site already. The plugin needs that feature to really become much more useful methinks.

by keywords are we talking about the keywords within the keywords field in advanced article options? if that’s the case then simply being more specific with keywords would make the article smore related wouldn’t they? If six posts contain articles with the keyword blob and in y=our new article you enter blog then the related articles would logically follow to be any with the keyword blob. Still not tried it but if that’s how it work, it will a nice lil plugin
