Re: Hive framework theme (WIP)
Another alpha snapshot is available – updated the download link in first post.. I’ll keep providing snapshots at regular intervals as this theme inches closer to something you’d use in production.

Re: Hive framework theme (WIP)
I’ve updated the alpha build again on the first post. Notable changes in this version (0.0.5):
- Fix problematic variable font that was crashing Firefox on macOS.
- Consolidate modules into fewer form templates, and group logically by filename.
- Option to not have home link text in the nav bar (makes the site title, or site logo if used, clickable to go home instead).
- Option to not have the light switch.
- Option to specify a more precise Schema.org organisation type.
- Option to allow organisation name to be different from site name.
- Dynamically get site year range – for copyright statement in site footer.
- Add meta `color-scheme` declaration for better UI chrome in Dark Mode (for supported browsers).
- More accessible search fields.
- Various minor build, code and style improvements.

Re: Hive framework theme (WIP)
I’ve updated the alpha build again on the first post.
I’ll like some feedback on this version (0.0.6), primarily around the heading module example (form template called -module--text--heading01
) and whether it’s easy to understand how your would create content for this module.
Since it’s based on the concept of content within pageless sections, I want to understand if this is simple enough to implement via the instructions I give with the module?
Please let me know your thoughts. I can then build a few more heading and text layout modules based on this initial one.

Re: Hive framework theme (WIP)
Hi. I’ve updated the alpha build again (now 0.0.7) on the first post.
- Added another 2 text layout modules.
- Allow body content, if defined, in certain text modules.
- Allow custom content, if defined, above gallery modules.
- More alignment/padding options for various modules.
- Ignore Textpattern in git, if installed in root of repo.
- Some quality-of-life improvements.
I’ll probably move each of the module instructions to a wiki within the GitHub repo in due course, as they are getting a bit wordy and I want to save a few bytes where I can.

Re: Hive framework theme (WIP)
Hi. I’ve updated the alpha build again (now 0.0.8) on the first post.
- Use local
app.js
, not from main framework. - Amends and additions to the text module layout options.
- Carousel gallery fixes.
- Some more work on the contact page, plus better address/phone microformats (hCard).
- Microdata improvement: include social media channel links in list of organisation URLs.

Re: Hive framework theme (WIP)
Long time TXP user here — since 2005!
My website theme is fundamentally the same since way back when — and seeing this development makes me feel that 2021 might be just the year to upgrade the look and feel of my site.
Some 965 articles in (I’ve written around 1200 features on my blog and deleted a lot of crap…)
I think I owe it to the readers and me to get up to speed on something more 21st Century.
I have subscribed to this dialog and if there is anything that I can do or help with, please ping me with a comment, text or e-mail.
Despite a global pandemic, these are exciting times.

Re: Hive framework theme (WIP)
Like Colin99, I first got going with textpattern something like 16 years back. The last website I built with it has been running like a well oiled machine… until some unkind person(s) managed to clobber it.
So now it’s “forced refresh” time, and I’m brushing the cobwebs out to be able to play with the new structure. This framework/theme looks fascinating. Sandbox site just built today, to begin seeing what all can be done.
Thank you, philwareham and the other dedicated folks who make Textpattern so much more than a cookie-cutter. It makes me wish I were a better chef. :)

Thanks! I will be continuing work in this theme framework very soon, been sidetracked by normal work and other Textpattern things last few weeks.

Re: Hive framework theme (WIP)
I’ve updated the alpha build again (now 0.0.9) on the first post. Note: the gallery modules require Textpattern 4.8.5 or newer, as they leverage a new tag attribute.
- Started work on map integration for contact page.
- Allow user to define header and footer background style (either no specific background, light background or dark background).
- Added Mastodon social channel option to footer.
- Added more editable Sass variables for theming.
- Terser CSS custom property names (to save some bytes).
- Optional AVIF and/or WebP versions of gallery module images (requires Textpattern v4.8.5 or higher).
- Reworked sticky header – didn’t like the UX much of my previous solution.

Re: Hive framework theme (WIP)
I just loaded 0.0.9 Hive Framework, and started playing with it. I like the tools in this framework (been having fun experimenting with all those forms). Really sweet work Phil… this will get used.

I’m always extremely impressed by your work on the Hive framework whenever I take a look at it. Keep up the good work Phil.

Re: Hive framework theme (WIP)
I’ve updated the alpha build again (now 0.0.10) on the first post. Note: the gallery modules require Textpattern 4.8.5 or newer, as they leverage a new tag attribute.
- Initial work on modularised colours and user selectable colour sets, with overrides (more work on this incoming, as well as user selectable font sets).
- Pushed footer to bottom of viewport on short pages.
- Added Schema.org microdata for organisation geolocation (if latitude/longitude defined).
- Added option to define a specific site logo for dark mode.
- Added gallery support for JPEG XL image format (only available behind a flag in Chrome browser currently).
- Fixed header underline bug.
- Fixed header light switch colour bug.
- Removed WOFF fonts (as all our supported browsers can handle WOFF2).
- Stronger default focus rings, for better accessibility.
