I fully agree with comments being better for context, but that wasn’t the point. Comments do not define a “blog”, was my point. But I won’t get into the semantic quibbles about that further. Do as you do. Say what you must to keep your readers happy. That’s the game. ;)
RSS, also a different but related matter is not gone as far as I’m concerned. That’s part of the re-revolution. Use it!

Damn straight. I reinstalled Vienna today, and I’ll add a couple of feeds this afternoon.
I’m aiming to publish words in a feed worthy of inclusion in someone else’s reader by the end of April.

This is a very interesting thread. On the issue of comments, if one is going to have them they should be part of the Blog and will remain there in context. If you are going to have comments I would make the case that they have to be moderated. There are good examples of blogs that are enhanced by having relevant comments.
But having said this there are many “blogs” that really would suffer if they were open to comments. For example the iA post.
