Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_suparchive - article archive list

I’m having some probs with rss_suparchive_menu on my blog (http://david.itchyhands.com) as well. I post my entries to the /blog section. I created an /archive section and an archive page. I’ve set the /archive section to make use of the archive page. In the archive page template I have the following code:
<txp:rss_suparchive_menu section="blog" linktosection="archive" limit="9999" />

Now in my /archive section I get a list of monthly archives. Clicking on one brings me to /archive/2005/05 (for e.g.) but textpattern shows me the /archive section page and not the list of articles as you would expect.

What am I doing wrong? Is it because I don’t have a <txp:article /> tag on my archive page template?? Or is it because I need to set my permalink mode to /year/month/day/title format?

I know you get this questions a lot Rob, but all tips and suggestions are much appreciated, thanks. If I get it right I promise to write it up so that people can refer to my blog instead of having to bother you all the time.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_suparchive - article archive list

Wasn’t sure if I should start a new thread or not…

I too am having a problem with rss_suparchive_bycat in which either the first or last item in the list is inserted into its own unordered list, apart from the rest in the list.

Is this something that happens as a result of something I have done, a bug with TxP 4.0.1, and has anyone else had this occur on their sites?

Thanks,

cpk

Hi :) First of all thanks for this great plugin :)

But I also have a question: Is it somehow possible to produce some pagination with it? Like with <txp:article limit=“5”/> and <txp:older/> and <txp:newer/> :)

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_suparchive - article archive list

This plugin either doesn’t care about time zone differences, or it is (probably) DST unaware. This should explain why when I publish sth around midnight, the article’s posted date is one day ahead of the one reported by the plugin.

Also, upgrading to the latest version has caused an extra problem for me. I call it from a page template and use it to display a list of recent articles, and while it works in “ection and category listings (right column), it doesn’t display anything at all when used in an article.

UPDATE: I went one minor version back (0.14) and got rid of this particular annoyance. Please do something with the DST.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_suparchive - article archive list

Email notifications from the forum seem to be broke so I’m a bit behind on this.

  1. I am aware of the time offset issues. Its on the list to be fixed.
  2. I haven’t seen the new 404 handling so I’ll have to take a look.
  3. Forms did work at some point on the regular suparchive tag.

Keep in mind that a lot of changes have taken place in the Textpattern code since this plugin was last released. Things that used to work might not anymore. I started to work on updating the plugin but am up to my neck in work at the moment. I’ll take a look at these problems when things quiet down a bit.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_suparchive - article archive list

This is a very useful plugin, so I’d like to request a couple of feautures for the forthcoming releases:

  • Emulate the 0.14 release standard behaviour for backward combatibility; my previous post above describes an annoyance I experienced with 0.15.
  • If possible, make possible to use it as a “recent articles” substitute; thus, prevent the display of the current article in a list of recent articles.

I’m getting 404 errors for any date archive pages, also.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_suparchive - article archive list

Hi,

My problem: the articiles of some of my categories are not meant to appear on the front page. But it should be possible to select all articles of any of those categories by selecting its name in a popup menu.

The tag txp:popup type=“c” seems to work only for articles appearing on the front page …

Probably rss_suparchive_bycat plugin can help to solve my problem – but I am still new to textpattern and do not manage to create the correct code :-(

Thanks for any help.

Paqui

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_suparchive - article archive list

Heya — again, great work on this plugin.

I was just wondering if it was possible to have the “section” default to the current section. I would like to use the same Page on different Sections, and have the rss-suparchive only show articles for the current section.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_suparchive - article archive list

I think I got it — I made the following change to the source:

// $section = isset($section) ? $section : “article”;
$section = isset($section) ? $section : $s;

Thanks!

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_suparchive - article archive list

The word is, I’m current working on 3 sites for the Fall Reboot so free time is non-existent at the moment. I haven’t even had time to update my own site to 4.0.1 yet. Hopefully I’ll get time to look at things after 11/1.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_suparchive - article archive list

I don’t want to rush you or hurry you at all, for I know how much of a commodity time tends to be, but at some point, if you get a chance, I think an excellent attribute to add to this already amazing plugin would be showarticleimage, which would allow outputting of the article image (duh).
Whenver you get a chance…
Thanks,

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_suparchive - article archive list

I am having an issue getting the rss_superarchive working on my site.

Textpattern · 4.0.2
Permanent link mode: /section/title
Plugin > rss_suparchive > active = yes
diagnostics = All checks passed!

What I am trying to accomplish is to have links to my monthly archives on my main page (<a href=“http://dev.jstar.net” target=”_blank”>http://dev.jstar.net</a>) which you can see is showing up correctly. I have my “default” template setup so that it is calling the <code><txp:rss_suparchive_menu linktosection=“archive” /></code> tag in my right column. When you roll over the links you can see it is archiving them in the way it is suppose to: November 2005 (3) = <a href=“http://dev.jstar.net/archive/2005/11” target=”_blank”>http://dev.jstar.net/archive/2005/11</a>
The problem is when you click on the link you get a 404.

I created a section called “archive” that is using the template page “archive”. In the template page “archive” I am calling the <code><txp:rss_suparchive /></code> tag. If you go to <a href=“http://dev.jstar.net/archive” target=”_blank”>http://dev.jstar.net/archive</a> you see all the articles in the archive format.

Any ideas? I’m sure it’s something that I have missed or screw up, but I’ve read at least 50 posts on this topic and nothing seems to be fixing the problem. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
-j
