Let’s say Portishead.

Oki doke. I may try for both Friday and Saturday, since I might have the family tagging along. That gives them a full day to toddle off and explore the area while we meet up on Saturday. It’s a 4-hour trek though unless I can convince them to hop on the train to Meadowhell so I can slingshot by and pick them up, which shaves an hour off the journey. Or I take the day off so we can leave earlier. Hmm, that has merit.

Let me know if definitely Portishead and whether I need to book 2 nights (the Friday and Saturday) or just Saturday night. Premier Inn is fine for me.

How long can 5 blokes (not Blokes) chat for in a pub? Is the Saturday enough? Make it a full day on the Saturday, crash, driving home Sunday, perhaps? I’d be inclined to have a Friday eve getting-to-know-you chit-chat then Saturday is when the real stuff starts. What you you reckon?

Right, I’m hitting the buy button and getting two nights: Friday + Saturday.

Friday PM is the (optional) pre-show gathering, Saturday AM is when things start proper, and Sunday AM we go our own ways.

Good man. I’ll check if the family fancy roaming that part of the country and book accordingly tonight.

Re: Textpattern user group meetup: Bristol, UK - autumn 2015

I’m going to book 2 nights because I’m driving down after work on the Friday and it takes a couple of hours to get there from here – so probably wouldn’t be there until about 9pm earliest. I can then go running in the morning and then drive to Weston Super Mare around lunchtime Saturday.

We switched to Portishead instead, Phil – no Saturday driving needed (if I understand correctly).

Ace. I’m booked, too. Stef’s booking tonight – I’ll ping the others and let them know what’s going on.

Booked, Friday and Saturday. Might take a half day Friday if I can. Game on.

Re: Textpattern user group meetup: Bristol, UK - autumn 2015

I would like to table this for discussion + action on the Saturday: take a look a the tag + attribute matrix and see if we can achieve some level of uniformity across the various types (e.g., all the tags that generate a time should have the gmt attribute, etc).

Sounds good.

Regarding the time example you cite, I kinda wish we didn’t have the gmt attribute at all and stored everything in UTC, or at least stored the timezone too. There are a series of Github Issues to track this, but fixing it is something I’d rather leave to someone brainier than I.

Re: Textpattern user group meetup: Bristol, UK - autumn 2015

The example given is not a priority right now (unless I’m missing something). In any case, it would make sense to deprecate gmt in favour of utc, should the status quo continue for a while. But see above – not a priority.
