Re: 4.6-dev ready for using?
Awesome. I guess you won’t give us a rough timeline? :)

I can only give you a rough timeline for the 2 issues I’m dealing with, which is about a week. The other issues are out of my control – other devs need to deal with those. I have sent them a polite email to hurry them along.

Re: 4.6-dev ready for using?
Is there a current roadmap when will be available the final 4.6 version? Or is 4.6-dev ready for live sites?

Re: 4.6-dev ready for using?
OMG, where did the classic admin theme go? And on the first glance, I cannot detect any of the possible improvements that had been discussed in the forum. A front end theme switcher probably would have been the most important one, or at least a switch to chose plain vanilla bootstrap or other popular framework to start with. The default theme is quite useless, and so difficult to get rid of. Too bad.

The theme switching stuff is for v4.7. Maybe check out that branch on GitHub before throwing criticisms about huh?

ax, TXP Devs are volunteers. Be civil. These are coders & designers who work just to make our favorite CMS happen.
I’ll agree that a theme switcher is a good future upgrade, but that isn’t why I use Textpattern. Changing “themes” is hard? Apply a new page to a section(s). Done.
Phil, great work on the default theme – and the Hive admin theme. Sure, I use a custom theme 95% of the time, but the default has worked great a for a few basic sites. Which is what it is for. I am so thankful for your work, keeping Textpattern moving forward.

Maybe my question was lost in this last discussion.

I have to admit that I didn’t like it much at first either – I had tried some of the classic alternatives and always gone back. But you get used to it soon enough.

Re: 4.6-dev ready for using?
The default theme is just a basic how-to of the CMS, nothing more. It’s meant to be something you learn from and ditch, or take and extend into something else.
When we have an actual themes folder in 4.7 alternatives are welcomed (and I already have Bootstrap, Foundation and a few other framework themes started for that very aim).
As for 4.6, I’m ready for it to go but I think other devs have a couple of issues they want to resolve first with database stuff.
