Re: Feedback to: Textpattern CMS 4.5.7 released
For the first time, I’m late ;)
Thanks lot Devs & all contributors. Happy Birthday Textpattern CMS.
Sorry for that: it seems I haven’t got all the files into the zip archive.

Re: Feedback to: Textpattern CMS 4.5.7 released
Happy Birthday TXP … & thank-you to the Devs for the new release.
Looking good on a brand new site install.
However, on a site upgrade from 4.5.4 the Pre-flight Check says:
There is a problem trying to connect to the RPC server. Please, try again later.
But if I click the help button, I get a response:
Diagnostics: Textpattern CMS version update
There is a newer version of Textpattern CMS available …
So the RPC server is alive but the help message is wrong … confused!
Edit: just realised it’s a dual-purpose message.

Re: Feedback to: Textpattern CMS 4.5.7 released
I had the RPC server issue a few times last week. Seems there’s some funky, sporadic DNS or hosting issue going on.
The basic symptoms are that after install (or indeed when visiting the language panel), instead of being taken to the language list, it sits and thinks for about 10-15 seconds then drops you to the languages sub-panel but offers to install from file instead of from the server (because it can’t connect to it). Usually if you visit the panel a short while later, everything’s fine. This is not specific to 4.5.7, but will affect all installations. Grrr, Internet gremlins. Maybe one of the other people with their fingers on the pulse of the network can shed some light here.
There is a newer version of Textpattern CMS available
The RPC server probably needed telling that the latest release is 4.5.7. Seems to be set now, so it shouldn’t report that any more. What’s more annoying is that when you update a language pack, it still thinks it needs updating. I think that’s a date/time/zone thing but have never got to the bottom of it, because it seems to come and go.

If you spot any other such already-fixes that would benefit being in 4.5.x, please let us know.
Is it preferable to raise a new issue for each, or bundle a handful with appropriate links/evidence into one issue?

If you can edit the Issue’s title, feel free to keep the noise down and bundle them all under Issue 427 if you like. I’ll tend to them en-masse, assuming they’re all capable of being done in 4.5.x without too much bother. Or raise them separately if it seems cleaner. I’m easy.

That seems to make most sense. I can’t edit the title, but I think the dev team can.
