Does this latest version of MLP support sub-directory installs? I think it does but would like to check.

Second question – does MLP work on IIS servers? By default I don’t think IIS supports clean URL’s unless a module called ISAPI_Rewrite is installed. If it is not installed, would MLP work with messy URL’s?

Hi Jonathan, don’t know the answer to your second question (though I doubt it), but MLP doesn’t work in subdirectory installs. It does in subdomains though.

OK well let me re-phrase the question – I am testing an MLP install (plus a default TXP install) on a Windows IIS server for a client (its not my choice!) and so far only the default install works with messy URL’s.

The MLP install does not work with messy URL’s. I have asked Graeme to look into this and waiting for his feedback. Like most people, I have limited experience with Windows IIS…

If you could set up a vhost to serve test.site.com from /path/to/site.com/test/, the chances of MLP working properly are higher. So, in other words, you put the test site in whichever folder you like (in your case, a subfolder of the main website’s root folder), but then you add a vhost to serve the website from a subdomain.

Well this is coming from a crappy Windows IIS server, so Apache Virtual Hosts does not seem to be an option. Personally, I would like the client to move to a Linux/Sun/etc with Apache server but its not up to me. What I need to do is establish if it works or not before going back to the client with a final recommendation.

Yes, I’ve read you mentioned the IIS “issue” in your previous post. But won’t it be possible to setup a test subdomain? That way, you will know if MLP works on IIS when installed on (sub)domain’s root. As MLP instructions clearly state that it may not work properly on subdirectory installations, installing it in a subdomain is a quick workaround. In fact, I’ve installed MLP on subfolders, while creating a subdomain to serve them properly, overcoming the subfolder issue.

Well on the crappy plan for this webhosting no subdomains are allowed. I guess the only option is to place the current MLP install in the root and see what happens.

Now I placed the MLP install in the main domain and it still did not work – same “The system cannot find the file specified.” error, even with messy URL’s.

Solutions? Or is this definitely a sign MLP does not work on Windows?

Well, I just switched my test MLP site to messy, and it all seems to work :) It is not on an IIS server of course…

Is there any documentation on MLP besides the ReadMe file in the zip, or is that the authoritative source at the moment?

Likewise, are there any good homegrown tutorials out there that people recommend looking at?

Finally, what are some good examples of it in use. A fr/en example would be good, if anyone knows.
