Re: jmd_img_selector: Thickbox-style image selector

jm,

Installed and working great!

With one exception in Firefox:

I have a category that has a few hundred images in it.
after about 60 images – it freaks out.

Seems to work fine in Safari.
Any ideas?

Tom

Jm,

Looks like privs are set to publisher only.
Can you add privs for other user levels?
Maybe a pref to give a comma separated list of users-levels?

Other than my Firefox freakout (above) – me likely so far.

  1. when image(s) are already associated, can you plop ‘em in above or below the image selector
  2. is it possible to get some logic in there so that if it’s a wide image it scales 100% height and if it’s a tall image it scales 100% width? This would mean that images would always fill up the frame.

  1. The problem I see with that you’d end up with another scrollbar area if you’ve got like 30 images selected. You do mean something kinda like this, right (not the drag-and-drop, but the “cart”)?
  2. I tried implementing this, but my brain ran away. In 0.2, I’m just scaling the images w/o respect to their proportions. I was thinking about doing a hoverbox-ish effect over the images, so you can see a larger and accurate thumb.

BTW I’m McLovin this plugn

Haha :D

I’ve only tested with a max of 20 images, but I did notice Firefox was slower. At the moment, Firefox is leaking memory like a sieve with 0.2b. Once I get that patched, it should be ready for more testing.

Done :). Uli caught it a few days ago, but I figured I’d throw it into 0.2.

Re: jmd_img_selector: Thickbox-style image selector

Ah what the heck, here’s 0.2a. It’s probably buggier and the CSS and JS aren’t done, so it’s definitely an alpha release.

Re: jmd_img_selector: Thickbox-style image selector

Hi the plugin (0.2a) will be very useful . I realise it is an Alpha.

In Opera 9.5, using the image selector, I can select images to Advanced Options/Article Image.
I am unable to make them appear in the Content/ Write page.
What TXP code do I need to be able to make images appear in the Content/Write page?

The plugin works fine in Opera 9.5 and Firefox 3.
In IE7 and 8 Beta it does not. The image selector has all the images active and cannot be clicked on, and cannot scroll down to Add image.

I get a
Error
thickbox.css was not found.
thickbox.js was not found.
jmd_img_selector preferences in the extensions menu.

The jmd_img_selector CSS file appears in the Style Tab.

Sparkling, Jim.

I also get the “not found” business although it works. I also hacked the css successfully to put the name on the right side.

Other than that, alles gute.

Re: jmd_img_selector: Thickbox-style image selector

I’m using firefox and haven’t been able to get it to work properly yet – when I click “Insert Image” under the Write tab it takes me to a page with the images (no lightbox effect) but after I select and image and click “Add Image” nothing happens.

Thanks for your hard work though :) this is a great plug-in and I can’t wait until it’s stable…

One More thing… This is pretty sluggish for lots of images, why not use the thumbs? or allow that to be an “admin” option.

Ahh.. so I disabled the editor toggle in the hak_tinymce preferences and the lightbox effect started working..

Er…Cause I removed that during testing and forgot to add it back in :).

I’ll ditch (or fix) the file-presence checking I had – it just runs file_exists('http://example.com/thickboxDi/thickbox.css|js'). Works locally :P.

Thanks for the IE heads-up SebastianS. I’ve only tested in Firefox 3 and Safari 3., but I kinda expected IE would barf :).

utamu, I haven’t used hak_tinymce, but I’ll see what’s going on. My plugin only inserts a header-link with JS, so it should work.

Re: jmd_img_selector: Thickbox-style image selector

Hi jm,

I must say, this is a fabulous plugin. Have been using the 0.1 version without problems, but I don’t have loads of images in any category.

This has been a very delightful “plugin birth experience”: someone suggests a long overdue feature, others chip in, a developer (yourself) gets on the case and voilà, we have a working solution within a couple of days!

Perhaps we could pull that off more often in the future?! :-)

Regarding the other insertion options, I was wondering whether that could be a toggle switch right within the image picker’s lightbox window. The reason is that I usually don’t grant users permission to access the admin area except for changing their passwords. They wouldn’t be able to enable the advanced options, if they were only available in the plugin’s preferences.
