Re: TxP.com home page
So, I’m taking this as a signal that all current text contributors are currently at a stage where no further significant additions or refinements would occur. Thanks for the intense work you put into this.
I’ll continue from the current state and work with Matthew. Preliminary results will eventually appear here.

Re: TxP.com home page
That’s a fair assessment. I would add that it’s not so much contributions are in shortage (indeed many good contributions have been made and lost), rather nobody can agree on anything and thus authority needs to help it over the finish line.

Re: TxP.com home page
Yay! Nice one guys.
BTW, should you require something for randomly choosing the Reasons to Try items on the front page, there’s a new weapon in town :-) It’s up to you how and where you define the lists (a few txp:variables might work well since it adds no extra queries, or if it’s being built on 4.0.6 you could code them directly into the plugin attributes).
Of course, a plugin might be overkill so no worries if it’s no use: I needed the plugin anyway and don’t care if I’m the only chump using it!

Re: TxP.com home page
Yes. Currently, Matthew is working on the design based on the site structure and content discussed above.

Re: TxP.com home page
That’s very funny, though I’m sure you’re quite serious. :)
Ed. Don’t misunderstand…I only say it’s funny because that’s how all of us understood things to be a month ago.

Re: TxP.com home page
Destry,
I’ve had a rough week when some shiza hit the fan for a good friend of mine. Robert sent me an outstanding synopsis of the entire content and my goal is to turn it into a first draft design by the weekend’s end.
Hope all are well,
Matthew

Not my intention to put pressure on anyone, just asking for a progress report. Thanks for that, Matthew. :)

Re: TxP.com home page
Just turned in the second version to Robert this last Friday. We should likely talk about it this week. More to come.

Re: TxP.com home page
Nice one Matthew.
Spawned from the video tutorials thread, as a related aside if anyone has any ideas on a storyboard for a short video that perhaps answers the question “Can Textpattern Do This?”, get in touch.
By “short” I mean a sub-1-minute — preferably sub-30-second — wham, bam, thank you Maam, “this is what you can do with TXP”, kind of advert; aimed at promo use, perhaps converted to Flash for shoe-horning into the new layout somewhere(?)
I’m a dab hand at putting vids together in Premiere and know my way around After Effects but I’m not that great at creating content from scratch — heck, I don’t even have the Sackers Gothic font so I can’t create any “official-looking” type either :-( But I’m sure with all the design gurus and visual folk in the community it ought to be possible to whip up some sharp graphics/screenies that can be incorporated into a whizzy promo.
It could be like a brief video FAQ for the oft-asked question “Can TXP do this?”. Or maybe it answers the question “What is TXP?”, in visuals. Or maybe there are a series of them. Bite-size hunks of video that focus on one feature or show off what the package can do, to whet people’s appetite. Think iPod adverts: short, sharp, bit of whizziness, and a handful of words that actually makes someone think “Y’know, I’m gonna give this thing a try”.
Any takers? Or shall I get back in my box and forget it? If needs be, I’ll create a new topic for discussion.
