Of course if you meant my comment to zero, then what I meant is we’ll be done with the MediaWiki to TXP migration before March.

Ah OK, I see. I totally misunderstood your ‘we’ll be done with TXP docs’ :) Thanks.

Re: [wiki] MediaWiki to Textpattern

I think the only way you will get Textpattern simplicity is by using Textpattern, so is it possible to make a plugin that will deal with who wrote/changed/corrected what? In other words what about a plugin or two that makes TXP into a wiki?

Benefits:
More txp users would be inclined to contribute to Textbook
It would be an extra feature making txp even more useful

Doesn’t we have all those plugins already? Atleast there is multiple modifier/modified plugins. Also registeration and public edit plugins. And atleast most of those are were easy to write as most of those are already done/stored by Textpattern, but we just miss public tags. I still wonder why we don’t have core tags for modified time etc.

But alternaly we could make new database table that stores ID, under it modified times and modifiers – and also source. But that is just what md_versions does, if I’m not completely wrong. So, no need for plugin as far I see it as it can be done with pure Textpattern and md_version can handle the history. And with couple changes it can be changed to more automatic ;)

Cheers!

Re: [wiki] MediaWiki to Textpattern

Maybe a plugin to easily create wiki-like links? (I have no idea if that would be difficult or even possible…)

  • Possible: yep
  • Easy: kinda
  • Hard: kinda
  • Simple: not

It could be done with footnotes. So editing from footnote to footnote, or header to header… oh wait.. Or is this what you mean? Or are you after for those messy URLs?

Cheers!

Re: [wiki] MediaWiki to Textpattern

No, I’m not after those messy URLs :) Sorry if I wasn’t clear. Actually I meant that it should be easy to create a link to another article inside an article. So if the wiki way is not possible or simple, I guess that could also be something like upm_img_popper, but for articles.

wet_quicklink is your friend. There is also wet_link. Requires wet_peex.

Ah damn! I looked at wet_link but overlooked the other one. So, does this mean that Textbook in TXP will be doable?

Re: [wiki] MediaWiki to Textpattern

I’m looking into a migration to DokuWiki. The migration will just be easier then moving it to TXP at this point. Also I think DokuWiki seems to have much better implementations for auto-organization.

This is a chance to re-organize the wiki so start brainstorming.
