I don’t know, I just put all my sites under the htdocs folder – at least with xampp on windows xp – and I never mess up with settings and virtual hosts. I never had a problem and it always worked “out of the box”
… but all in all it’s not a real problem – if you mention this in the plugin help and suggest the solution (add the sitename in the url, after the “localhost” part) the problem is solved
One of the things on my to-do list is a re-write of the JS using jQuery — which should take care of the IE compatibility problem.
My dreams come true then!

I’ve updated the plugin and re-posted it as the second of the two plugins above. This is my first shot at jQuery and I’ve tested it works on Linux( FF / Opera). It should now work on IE.
Please let me know how it works out for you.

I have again updated the second plugin in the post here to rev 129 which cleans up a little and adds a hide/show all link so you can batch change your CF prefs.

Disclaimer: The site I’m using it on is in the early stages of development, so I’m not pushing the plugin at all. I have glz_custom_fields installed, but have not yet added additional fields.
That said, everything appears to work perfectly both with th .121 and .126 (jQuery).

so the missing part is “my_site_name”

Latest version allows you to exclude sections from the write-tab section select list. Should be pretty useful for sites with a lot of sections holding static content.
Publishers will always get to see the full set of sections so they can override incorrect section assignments/edits by other users. So if you want to test out this new feature, you must login as a non-publishing user to see it in action.
