I’d say doing it as a plugin is even a bit more efficient because during times when the plugin is not in use… the code is not even loaded ;)
Fair point, well made. Plugin’s fine by me, it’s ace.

ruud – so if I understand this correctly. Is this the best solution for checking if the visitor is logged in on the backend? As in, could your code be adapted into a plugin to show an “edit” link for articles on the main site if you are logged in?
rss_article_edit already does this.

Re: rvm_maintenance (v0.5)
As iBlastoff points out, rss_article_edit does something similar.
My method leads to a plugin like rvm_edit_link that offers both article and comment edit links ;)
It has the advantage that no configuration is needed, but only works if you’ve been logged in on the admin side in the same browser session. Rob Sable’s approach, which allows you to set/remove the cookie manually is probably more user friendly.

Ruud
your plugin worked well whilst I upgraded my plugins site from 4.0.3 to 4.0.5. Thank you!

Re: rvm_maintenance (v0.5)
Yes, it is very nice to be able to just turn it off and on! Thank you.
The only down side is that it won’t be displayed in my active plugins list (rsx_plugins_list) when not in maintenance mode… ;)

Nice plugin Ruud.
Anyone else having trouble making it work with one browser or another?
I can’t get it to work in FireFox. I suspect its a cookie setting or some plugin, but I can’t figure it out?
I’m accepting cookies from all sites.

working fine for me in Firefox. You need to take a quick visit to the admin side — and login — to get the revelation cookie.

Matthew
I had to clear the cache to be allowed to see the site.

Hmm. Can’t figure it out. Still now working. I see the cookie in the list too? Weird.
