Re: [feedback] State of Textpattern - Part 2

Where’s the roadmap?
Glad you ask Patrick, TxPage has a very aggressive roadmap.
6 months:
- Plugins will be known as extensions, an admin side update facility will be set into motion ala Firefox
- With an update facility for extensions in place, updating of the core begins beta testing
- Templating will follow next, pick and chose a look, get to posting
9 months:
- The Admin side goes through a major overhaul, still simple but easier on the newbie
- An info pane with RSS feeds of the TxPage world is set into motion
- Featured sites becomes a reality with a ping to TxPage.com
1 year:
- Commenting becomes an extension, open or hardened spam protection versions
- Access permissions to site content is implemented
- Full blown Forum and Gallery extensions are introduced, paving the way for a TxPage suite
The above are major undertakings and as such would constitute many changes to core files and database schemas. As for backwards compatibility, let me quote Raul Julia in Gumball Rally when he rips out the rear view mirror in his Ferrari Daytona, “What’s behind me is not important!”.

Re: [feedback] State of Textpattern - Part 2
Honestly, I can’t understand all the complaints… With TXP you have a (almost) full featured blog and cms. And it’s for free!
Imagine: ExpressionEngine has maybe even less updates, no roadmap, and people are even paying for it, but I can’t find any complaints in their community forums like I see them here now, every 2 to 3 days…
What’s your problem? Of course everybody loves to see frequent updates with new features, but TXP is working well as it is. Don’t you think that your complaints could be also dangerous for the motivation of the developers?
If you want to have a blog software updated regularly with security holes, move on to WordPress, or build your own fork. I can’t, I know nothing about PHP, but I’m happy with what I’m getting with TXP for FREE!

One of the commenting options is tied to the forum extension.

No, cause with advancement in genetics it could be forever.

That’s a good idea, I’ll pass it by the board members at the next meeting.
