The big thing will be to bribe Bert to do the same with Mediawiki :)
My job is to coerce projects into acknowledging that the web is adapting.
In the beginning we were all super happy to get away from Frontpage, the blogs flourished. With blogs under our belts, we continued on to content systems, it was the same concept but less chronological in nature.
We are at the next stage of the net. It’s not about Web 2.0 with it’s colorful themes, big fonts or Ajaxy doohickeys. It’s about empowering the average person to easily publish, display and discuss who he or she is.

I would choose PunBB (and the future 1.3 version, along with Bert’s work, for a full integration)… but that’s me.
Where do we download Burt’s TxPun?

We’re working on PunBB 1.3 at the moment, once Pun gets to a beta stage, then I can start getting TxP and Pun working together.
The new extension mechanism in Pun 1.3 will make it easy to:
- Use the forum for commenting
- Use the forum to authenticate site users
- Use the forum to restrict front end content
Check out PunXS, it’s a very exciting way to create Pun extensions.
The new templating scheme in Pun 1.3 eases making the forum match the front end. It’s not a full blown templating system like TxP, but it’s more flexible and allows for different styles for the forum, less boxy comes to mind.
As with anything, we are all volunteers and spring is here :)
